If anyone is familiar with the 2004 released TokyoShock uncut DVD, you may or may not be aware that the runtime on the support of that DVD read “124 Minutes”, which turned out to be fallacious. That DVD was the rotund 129 petite uncut version. The blood bag DVD edition has that same runtime listed on the wait on screen too. By 124 minutes, they mean with the PAL compression (which is curious since this film is banned from being released uncut in the UK) . So therefore, this will indeed be the uncut version that we all cherish. I can’t wait to capture this on blu-ray, despite I already beget the DVD (but seriously, it’s worth the upgrade!) .

One of the director’s finest. Lots of blood, violence. Don’t quiz anything deep, fair generous former gory fun

Christie Savor is laughable and action-packed. A shadowy female cop out to maintain the man out of her face and the drugs out of the hood. Teresa Graves gives a fantastic performance, proof that Pam Grier isn’t the slay all be all when it comes to women in blaxploitation movies.

…P>I like it! A lot.

… The tape spent quite some time on the bookshelf but now that I have finally seen it I am in fancy!

It must be the box art that achieve me off, a garrish watercolor blending an approximation of Teresa Graves’ face with Pam Grier’s, uh, other attributes. Learn from my mistake and don’t let that assign you off, the movie really is a blast.

Production values for this film are definitely made-for-TV, B-grade standard. But for less than ten bucks you salvage two competently realised car crashes plus a couple of unequal struggles between Miss Graves and the rank drug-lords’ henchmen.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Get Christie Love! Click Here

The legend isn’ t too shabby either. It succeeds to place fair enough motivation into both actors and actions.

Not that I would know anything about it but the dialog sounds totally ad-lib and incredibly wintry all at the same time. The IMDB lists what appear to be TV comedy gigs and Teresa Graves really displays the timing of a mammoth comedian.

The IMDB bio for Teresa Graves consists of impartial one lousy cryptic sentence, saying that she curtailed her career because she allowed her religion to limit her role choices. On the basis of this one film alone I secure that hard to acquire. The title character is sexy, tough and cold, the very poster girl of an independent woman.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Get Christie Love! Click Here

It was a bit irregular watching this film because to me she looked so grand like Whitney Houston, a taller, fitter, Whitney Houston with a spacious sense of humor. Oh, and one of her junkie contacts looks exactly like the girl from expose day THE PARKERS TV expose. So unfamiliar!

The only reason for me to sustain the fifth star is the unpleasant audio and so-so visual quality of the budget tape published by Ideal Enterprises.

“Chicken Speed” (the latest from Aardman Studios, the makers of the ‘Wallace and Gromit’ films) is simply the most delectable, visually astounding, and FUN engaging movie since Disney’s “The Lion King.” Other studios (notably Warner Brothers) have tried to occupy a bite out of Disney’s pie-share of the kid-movie market, but Aardman and Dreamworks have done it best in this charming, hilarious, and edge-of-your-seat thrilling inspiring fantasy about a group of hens trying to smash out of a chicken farm. Running the farm with an unfavorable view and an iron ax are the villainous Mrs. Tweedie and her henpecked (literally) husband, who’s clear those chickens are plotting rush. The voices are perfect, from Julia Sawalha and Joan Horrocks from “Absolutely Improbable” as chickens to Mel Gibson as the “flying” rooster Rocky. I want to recommend that every parent bewitch their kids to explore this one: unlike many other unique cartoons, this one is completely apt for all but the very youngest children (there’s some tense moments in a hasten at the kill, and a cramped threatening to the chickens with an ax), but even better, this will delight and amuse the adults with its clever animation, perfect voice-casting, witty visual allusions to distinguished movies like “The Big Race,” “The Bridge over the River Kwai,” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and Indiana Jones-type thrills that range from a slouch inside an automatic chicken pie-making machine to a dramatic and climatic dash that is reminiscent of, but even improves on, the high-energy sprint sequences of Aardman’s “Wallace and Gromit” films. The good lessons (you can succeed better with teamwork; stand by your friends) are pointed but gentle, without hitting kids over the head. I can’t recommend this one highly enough, folks, whatever age you are. And if you head out of the theater and go eat a chicken pot pie, you have a considerable, worthy, harder heart than mine!

Well, what an absolute joy and surprise this movie turned out to be. I was dumb-founded from commence to do as to how the animators actually created this magical stop-motion narrate. In the past three days I have watched this disc over and over again, not humdrum of it at all. The epic (ala “Stalag 17″ and “The Gigantic Dash”) is simple yet effective. A group of English hens constantly place and plot to dash from their chicken farm, rush by the tyrannical Mrs Tweedy (the tell of Miranda Richardson), before they are turned into chicken pies. Their only hope comes in the shape of a cocky, dauntless American rooster named Rocky Roads (Mel Gibson in his best performance to date) . “Chicken Hurry” is filled with vast adult one-liners and jokes and is packed with every war/escape movie cliche know to this genre. It will also appeal to the microscopic ones. The disc is grand value. The DTS soundtrack is delicate awesome and really kicks into power when the chicken pie oven blasts into action….WOW! The video transfer is crystal definite, which adds an extra dimension to the clay models. The extras are fun also. The “Chicken Anxiety” button is very cute, “The Making Of” docos (there are two) are VERY entertaining and informative, and there is substantial information about the movie hidden throughout the menus….you have to net them! The highlight of the disc is the explain of Jane Horrocks (”Miniature Remark” and Bubble from “Ab Fab”) who steals the exhibit as Babs the insensible hen! She’s hysterical. Fabricate definite you choose this disc for your DVD library. You won’t be disappointed! If this movie doesn’t pick up an Oscar at next year’s Academy Awards….I’ll give up poultry for life!

Season 8 (21 episodes airing 2000-2001) was the most atypical of all nine years of THE X FILES for several reasons:

Buy,Download, Or Stream The X-Files - The Complete Eighth Season! Click Here

1. Considerable of the season makes due without the services of David Duchovny.

2. Novel characters, assuming key roles, are introduced.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The X-Files - The Complete Eighth Season! Click Here

3. An unprecedented percentage (nearly half) of the episodes are devoted to the mythology arc.

There is a noticeable, almost “symphonic”, symmetry to the season (composer Imprint Snow’s haunting “Scully theme” functioning as “idee fixe”) with the mythology arc divided into several well-defined sections: an opening 2-part prelude, massive 5-part mid season “adagio” and titanic 2-part finale.

The loss of David Duchovny’s corpulent participation actually had the finish of re-focusing THE X FILES. Chris Carter and company were build to the test in coming up with an spirited and (somewhat) cohesive storyline that would work around the practical ( business related ) realities they faced late the scenes. Though not without missteps, Season 8 succeeded both in revitalizing the dramatic intensity of the yarn arc and maintaining the shows inexorable momentum toward a conclusion revealing powerful of Chris Carter’s longstanding underground project.

In Season 8 Gillian Anderson became the lynchpin of THE X FILES, continuing to summon up her worthy skills in service to the point to. The casting of Robert Patrick as Agent John Doggett was a stroke of genius; Doggett was written and acted in complete distinction to Mulder. This well-planned strategy allowed the imaginative landscape of THE X FILES to be viewed through the modern eyes of a recent character; in the process, some of the excitement of the show’s early years was regained for longtime aficionados. Additionally, a measure of stability and strength is found in the season-long emphasis of producing truly serious scripts. The result is a consistently “black” mood, similar to the melancholia found throughout Season 4. In fact, only in a short midseason amble did the demonstrate show signs of proper weakness.

The “stand alone” scripts, while certainly not the main emphasis of Season 8, were noticeable improvements over the previous season:

Vince Gilligan’s ultra-violent “Roadrunners” (his only contribution in Season 8) is the single finest “stand alone” of the year, a savage parody of a religious sect ( barely disguised ) combined with an homage to the sci-fi classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. This is the first episode (aired early in the season) in which it is apparent that Gillian Anderson and Robert Patrick really “click” as a team; a most fortunate happenstance as the fate of the remaining two years depend in vast allotment on their convincing onscreen chemistry. THE X FILES would never have maintained its integrity had the (platonic) Scully/Doggett partnership failed onscreen.

David Amann’s enchanting “Invocation” is the first of several episodes over the course of the final 2 seasons that deal with the past event that most shaped Agent Doggett: the kidnapping and assassinate of his son (”Empedocles” was the other script so featured in Season 8) .

Longtime staff writer Frank Spotnitz has a very prominent role in shaping Season 8; in addition to co-writing several episodes with Chris Carter, Spotnitz penned several solo scripts:

The helpful “Via Negativa”, in addition to being gracious on its have terms, has the additional virtue (shared with “Invocation”) of allowing Robert Patrick to flesh out his character (David Lynch style cinematography adds a visually disturbing element to the storyline) .

“The Gift” is one of the strangest X FILES episodes ever produced, a hallucinatory combination of “stand alone” and “mythology”, all the more bizarre for the flashbacks which (purportedly) account for Mulder’s pre-abduction illness.

“Alone” (aired tedious in the season) is essentially written for the elegiac touches of its final minutes, with Scully and Mulder humorously yet touchingly “passing the torch” on to a young and admiring FBI agent, the latter character symbolic of the legions of valid (and often demanding) “X-Philes”.

Regarding the failures in Season 8:

“Regain”, “Distinct slay” and especially the snide “Baddlea” should never have been aired. One of the most critical aspects of this complete DVD area will be to allow the viewer to bypass ghastly episodes and concentrate on the otherwise laudable unity demonstrated throughout Season 8.

Regarding the mythology arc:

The aforementioned symphonic structure of the season begins with Chris Carter’s two-parter (”Within”/”Without”), which has the pregnant Scully searching for an abducted Mulder.

Carter and Spotnitz collaborate on the pivotal mid season block of mythology episodes dealing with the death and resurrection of Fox Mulder. One cannot relieve but gape the debt owed to the 2nd/3rd season trilogy (”Anasazi” / “The Blessing Blueprint” / “Paper Clip” ) .

Chris Carter wrote the season finale (”Essence”/”Existence”), which is the mirror image (in terms of title and residence) of the season opener. The series’ philosophical (indeed, theological) underpinnings, while by no means hidden in previous seasons, are laid bare with allusions and typological references to the Novel Testament (as well as the metaphysics of Aquinas reflected in the episode titles) .

While “Essence”/”Existence” was fashioned in such a arrangement as to provide a gracious conclusion to both the 8th season and the series as a whole (should it have ended in 2001), it turned out that many of its themes would be carried over into what would in actuality become the final year. THE X FILES would eventually complete its long (9 year) bustle in artistic and spiritual unity; a testimony to the integrity of cast, writers, crew and (above all) creative vision of Chris Carter.

Agent John Doggett (Robert Patrick) carries on the hunt for Mulder who Scully and Skinner own has been abducted by aliens. Doggett’s a firm disbeliever until some bizarre things occur during the first two episodes of the season. Robert Patrick brought distinguished needed focus and energy to the eighth season. While the eighth season didn’t match the highs of the best seasons of the expose it had some strong outstanding episodes and it appeared after a wildly uneven 7th season that the present might actually be on track again. Agent Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) was introduced as a semi-regular during this season as well working in conjunction with Doggett and Scully.

Among the outstanding episodes are one in which Doggett and Mulder check out a oil refingery rig that’s pumping something other than oil, another stand out episode involves a tense one place in the deserted subway tunnels of Boston where something is literally dissolving passengers as they lope the rails. Doggett goes underground to investigate while Scully works against the clock to figure out if there’s a biological contagion. The conclusion is disappointing but the episode itself is a tense 45 minutes.

The 8th season saw a return to the spookier, darker episodes that made “The X-Files” a cessation cousin to “The Night Stalker”, “Trilogy of Awe” and “The Norliss Tapes” (three terrific made-for-TV movies) . There are those that argued that Patrick’s Doggett wasn’t as compelling as Mulder’s character and I’d have to disagree–over the short two seasons that Patrick played Doggett he created a character every bit as memorable as Duchovny’s Mulder and unbiased as different.

The 8th season reduced cost area has commentary tracks on “Alone” by Frank Spotnitz and by Kim Manners on “Existence”. There are also a couple of episodes with deleted scenes that you can contemplate restored to the respective episodes via the main menu. We also have more of those goofy international clips but all the extras on the seventh disc aren’t included. The 8th season compares favorably to the first two seasons of “The X-Files” but not as well as when the display was in paunchy swing with seasons 3, 4 5 and 6. Nevertheless, there’s unexcited plenty of quality episodes here.

THE INVISIBLE MAN- Claude Rains is awesome as the man whose invisibility serum slowly rots his brain. Hunted by police, he sets out to cure himself and accumulate revenge on the man who betrayed him. He gets some aid in the construct of the invisibilty serum and simply walks out of prison! Can he present his innocense and salvage the actual killer before te serum drives him wrathful? Spacious sequel! THE INVISIBLE WOMAN- This one is strictly for laughs. A scientist (John Barrymore) invents an invisibility machine with his assistant (Margaret “Sinister Witch Of The West” Hamilton) . A young woman volunteers to be turned invisible and the slapstick begins. A gang of thugs wants the machine for distinct criminal reasons. The gang even includes a stooge (Shemp Howard)! Worth a see. THE INVISIBLE AGENT- Jon Hall is the title character, dropped slack enemy lines during WW II. Can he foil the outrageous plans of the nazis? Sir Cedrick Hardwicke is head of the gestapo and Peter Lorre is an atrocious japanese see. Not dreadful at all! INVISIBLE MAN’S REVENGE- Jon Hall is support as the invisible man. This time out, cheated and betrayed by aged “friends”, he seeks vengeance at all cost. He encounters a scientist (John Carradine) who has been turning animals invisible with his secret serum, and you can guess the result! Very grand! This collection is yet another goldmine from universal’s creaky vaults! Add it to your monster list…

Between directing the modern “Frankenstein” in 1931 and his masterpiece “Bride of Frankenstein” in 1935, James Whale save out a tiny gem called “The Invisible Man” in 1933. In some ways I rate “The Invisible Man” above “Frankenstein.” For one thing “The Invisible Man” has a immense musical regain which heightens the drama in many scenes and helps to bustle the saunter of the film. The novel “Frankenstein” had no musical accept (odd one was never added for re-release as it would have improved an already large film tremendously) as musical scores weren’t commonplace until a few years later. I also assume that Whale had developed greatly as a director between 1931 and 1933. “Frankenstein” has many scenes that seem to be stagey and lack the finesse of Whale’s later films.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Invisible Man - The Legacy Collection! Click Here

In many ways “The Invisible Man” is Universal’s most horrific terror film of the 1930s. Dracula was a vampire who killed to maintain his occupy existence, Frankenstein’s Monster was a misunderstood and sympathetic creature who killed out of awe or nettle, while The Invisible Man is a man driven enraged by an illicit drug who kills out of shear pleasure. He commits mass abolish during the film on a scale powerful greater than any other Universal narrate. We also have to remember he is at his core a man not a monster.

Claude Rains gives a attractive performance, in his US film debut, in the title role. Rains, who’s face was only seen on cloak briefly at the raze of the film, had a deep distinctive pronounce which was perfect for a role that was more about disclose than body. This role was the commence of a long and very successful film career for Rains who played costarring and supporting roles in classic films from the 1930s through the 1960s.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Invisible Man - The Legacy Collection! Click Here

Also in the cast are Henry Travers, Gloria Stuart and Una O’Connor. Travers was a talented character actor who may be most recognized to film fans as Clarence the inept angel in the holiday classic “It’s A Incredible Life.” Stuart, who as a starlet in the 30s appeared in dozens of films before retiring from the shroud, had a career resurrection in fresh years when she was cast as “passe Rose” in the mega-hit “Huge.” O’Connor, supplying amusing relief as a busybody inn keeper’s wife, played numerous supporting roles in Hollywood’s golden age including a the role of Minnie in Whale’s “Bride of Frankenstein.”

Of course, by 21st century standards “The Invisible Man” is antiquated. The special effects, undoubtedly cutting edge for their time, are not very impressive in the age of computer technology. Having said that, I must admit this film is unexcited though-provoking and though-provoking to seek. The performances, especially Claude Rains, detached absorb up and the direction by Whale remains station on. If you sit support and imagine yourself as a moviegoer in the 1930s, having never seen special effects like this before, it’s easy to glimpse how magnificent this film must have been to audiences more than 70 years ago.

The $20 note brand is well worth it unbiased to acquire “The Invisible Man” but in this Legacy Collection you also receive ALL of the Universal “Invisible” films (minus “Abbot & Costello Meet The Invisible Man”) . It could be argued that “The Invisible Man Returns” and “The Invisible Man’s Revenge” are the only legal sequels as they follow the adventures of Jack Griffin’s (Claude Rains’ character in the current) brother. “… Returns” is well-known by Vincent Impress in the title role. These two films are edifying B-movie efforts by Universal and allotment of the second alarm cycle of the 1940s. “The Invisible Woman” is more comedy than alarm and features John Barrymore in the twilight of his career. “The Invisible Agent” was a wartime adventure featuring Universal’s top action hero of the 40s, Jon Hall, using invisibility to fight Nazis.

Having added The Invisible Man, The Mummy and The Creature to its series of Legacy Collections, I sincerely hope Universal continues with the balance of its apprehension titles of the 30s and 40s. I hope to peek a release of the films that teamed Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi (”The Sunless Cat,” “The Raven,” “The Invisible Ray,” and “Gloomy Friday”), a release of the Inner Sanctum series starring Lon Chaney and a plot with all the one-off fear films (”Murders in the Rue Morgue,” the 1943 “Phantom of the Opera,” “Man-Made Monster,” “The Inflamed Ghoul,” etc.) of Universal’s Golden Age.

Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly is the catalyst unhurried this fictional version of the bizarre right account of the relationship between Bernard Borsicot, a French diplomat, and Shi Pei-Pu, a Peking opera singer. In the film and play, Bernard Borsicot becomes Rene Gallimard, a low-level accountant at a French embassy, who is promoted to head of embassy intelligence after he inadvertently ruffles some feathers among the espionage staff. The real-life Shi Pei-Pu is known as Song Liling, a singer at the Beijing opera, although the accurate events took space in Peking. With a background position among the chaos of China objective prior to and during the Cultural revolution, the affair between Boriscot/Gallimard and Pei-Pu/Lilang is broken-down to frame a well-crafted and extremely well-acted account of espionage, savor, betrayal, obsession and, ultimately, a dramatic reversal of the tragedy of Madama Butterfly.

Buy,Download, Or Stream M. Butterfly! Click Here

Unlike some, I beget that Borsicot/Gallimard probably did not know, or certainly did not want to know, that Shi/Song was really a man. I found John Lone as Song very convincing indeed, even though as a overjoyed man I am very old-fashioned to being around transgender people, many of whom are not even remotely as credible as Mr. Lone. What is less credible is how young Song looks when she is finally revealed as a man during the brief courtroom scene, since their affair was supposed to last over 30 years, and John Lone appears to be in his tedious twenties during the trial scene. But this is a minor quibble; the irony of the climactic ending may be lost on anyone who is outlandish with the opera that the account parallels, but this does not detract from the compelling nature of the film. The supporting cast is friendly, especially Ian Richardson as the Ambassador and Barbara Sukowa as Gallimard’s wife.

A word about the title, which many people refer to as “M Butterfly”, as if the letter “M” were itself a word. In French, “M.” is the abbreviation for “Monsieur”, and the title of the film and play are properly pronounced “Monsieur Butterfly”. Thus the irony of the climax is instantly comparable to the opera. Highly recommended.

“M. Butterfly” is David Cronenberg’s distinguished espionage drama, based on David Henry Hwang’s stage drama. Jeremy Irons stars as Gallimard, a French civil servant in Beijing who finds himself smitten with the dazzling opera diva Soong Liling (John Lone) Their pillow talk consists of American troop movements in Vietnam, Soong is a secret agent for the Red Guard. Along the design, Soong drops small hints to her apt nature. Picnicking on the Tremendous Wall, Soong asks, “Why do you cherish a woman with a boy’s chest? ” Soong also tells one of her comrades that men impersonated women in the Beijing Opera because “only a man knows how a woman is supposed to act.”

The romance becomes political intrigue. In the kill, Soong’s identity is revealed and Gallimard commits hara-kiri. In exact life, however, both lovers remained alive. The French agent didn’t raze himself; in fact,he has gone to numerous stagings of the play and was on the spot when Cronenberg’s movie was being made.

“M. Butterfly” is a salubrious work. Irons and Lone are a convincing couple. Howard Shore’s soundtrack is sensuous and pleasing. “M. Butterfly” is a bewitching capture on East meets West.

This movie will seem very familiar to most long-time movie watchers as it is in many ways a remake of the vintage screwball comedies of the early ’30’s but with a decidedly ’90’s twist.

The heroine of the film is Maggie, a young woman who has dropped out of university to try and gather herself as an artist. She also supplements her income from painting by working at a bookstore which serves the LesBiGayT (Lesbian-Bisexual-Gay-Transsexual) community of a microscopic British Columbian town.

Maggie’s life is greatly complicated when, on the same day, she begins to tumble in esteem with an itinerant painter named Kim, and she receives word that her mother and teenage brother are going to be coming to town to pause with her. This is particularly problematic because Maggie hasn’t disclosed her sexual orientation to her family.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Better Than Chocolate! Click Here

A definite amount of predictable hijinks ensue as Maggie tries to sustain her family from deducing the truth about her relationship with Kim. She also, of course, must support them from figuring out that anything is “out-of-place” about her friends and co-workers. As well, there are several sub-plots introduced to give the film more political relevancy, including Canada’s strict censorship laws and the subject of anti-transsexual discrimination in the LesBiGayT community, however they are not especially well developed.

In conclusion, this film is very laughable at some points, but moves very predictably at others. It is a rather light-hearted capture on lesbian romance and coming-out issues, but the sub-plots occasionally weigh it down. Since most of the sub-plots contained enough potential to be films of their bear, the film-makers could have dropped some of them from this relate to utilize more time exploring Maggie and Kim’s relationship. That said, I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies and has an launch mind.

There’s no shortage of mediocre gay/lesbian movies out these days, in which we follow the trials and tribulations of a group of friends (joyful, lesbian, maybe an occasional trans) as they tumble in and out of care for and do a lot of dancing. “Better than Chocolate” is another one of those movies and it’s okay for what it is, but I can’t succor wishing these movies would aim impartial a petite bit higher.

As with most films in this genre, there’s the central treasure myth, here a sort of instant-fall-in-love scenario between two women, both of whom are essentially nice, glowing, etc. The “character flaw” of one is that she lives on the road and always leaves when the going gets tough; the other one’s “flaw” is that she hasn’t told her mother that she’s blissful, yet, and hasn’t really committed to her identity as a lesbian. So, they topple in savor, the mother comes to halt with her daughter, hijinks ensue. There are a few subplots tossed in, the most entertaining of which centers around the one transgender character who is hoping (in vain) that her parents have finally celebrated her.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Better Than Chocolate! Click Here

The capable things about this movie? Well, for one thing, there are a couple of truly erotic scenes between the two main characters, and well done erotica is a rarity in ANY genre of film. Also, there are a couple of song/dance routines that are performed by the main characters that are truly nifty. As a matter of fact, I wish they’d done more of that and less of the soap-opera-y stuff.

Perhaps the biggest flaw in the film is fair how predictable it all is. You know who’s going to kill up together, you know that the mother will eventually win out the truth and, after a bit of shell-shock, will get her daughter as a lesbian, etc. There are no surprises. And the political subtext (censorship is unpleasant, violent skin-heads are abominable, prejudice is poor, etc.) never risks gripping its viewers; it’s stunning mighty a given that anyone who’s going to observe this movie is going to agree with all the opinions expressed within it.

So, if you’re in the mood for yet another gay/lesbian comedy/drama, you could do worse than this one. But don’t go into this expecting anything profound or intellectual… “Better than Chocolate” never challenges or surprises, it only re-affirms what’s already been said in other, similar movies.

I have both the 2001 and 2007 DVDs of this film. I really don’t have any interest is who is ‘right’ with the aspect ratio argument, I compared both versions and found that you’re missing some of the video image regardless of which version you steal. I took screenshots of both DVDs and overlayed them on top of each other. I found that with the 2001 release, you accumulate the 1:33:1 aspect ratio where the far left and legal of the cloak image is clipped. With the 2007 release, you win the 1.78:1 aspect ratio where the top and bottom of the veil image is clipped off. You can survey what I mean by viewing the ‘customer image’ I posted, above. The blue border is for the 2001 release and the red border is the 2007 release.

Both DVDs are ‘digitally restored and remastered’, however the 2007 release is noticeabley brighter and more incandescent. The 2001 image seems outmoded and expressionless.

This release has all the other special features of the 2001 DVD release, with the addition of optional commentary by Garrett Brown and John Baxter and three novel featurettes.

The Smart is one of the panic genre’s most primary films. Made in 1980 by the slow, legendary Stanley Kubrick, the film stands out as not only one of his best but probably the best Stephen King adaptation as well. Though not nearly as apt to the book as the later TV-movie would be, it is undoubtedly darker, more macabre, and ultimately beneficial to that version. Kubrick was a genius unhurried the camera, giving us long, lovely shots, allowing us to retract in both the beauty and the apprehension of the Overlook Hotel. As for the transfer of the film, it is fantastic. While clearly not as visually glowing or breathtaking as fresh day flicks, this HD DVD version of The Shimmering boasts a virtually flawless transfer and cleans up many of the blemishes that were demonstrate on previous VHS and DVD versions. Sad levels are deep, spruce, and ungrainy and the majority of the film offers a surprisingly dapper view. Detail is not as strong as it could have been, but Kubrick intentionally shot this film softly. The images won’t pop and shine like current movies will, as this is an venerable film, but for the note of the disc you are without a doubt getting the highest quality transfer this film has ever seen.

Audio has been upgraded from a mono to a TrueHD soundtrack, but for the most share audio will be very front-heavy. Most of the peripheral speakers are feeble only for music, to intensify the sound of it (and it is effective) .

Special features are slim: the faded making of documentary (with or without commentary), theatrical trailer, and a few shrimp featurettes that delve deeper into the making of The Knowing, as well Stanley Kubrick’s “Visions.” All heavenly standard fare, all in 480i/p standard definition.

Whether you’re a long time fan of the film, or fresh to it, this is a must-own if you contain an HD DVD player and HDTV! I hope you bask in it as powerful as I did.

Great tale, set, tempo. Terrific group of acting talents. Koh Hyun-Jung as Mishil should procure top acting award. She appears in episode 1-50. That’s Vol 1 and Vol 2. The point to has aired 50 episodes as of Nov. 10th, and is expected to extend to 62-70 episodes in total.

I had high hopes for the drama series to become one of the classics. Unfortunately it falls short as the lead actress Lee Yo-Won for the role of adult Duk Man, the future Queen Seondeok, cannot act. While broad in stubborn, kind, and often times dull contemporary female roles in her past, Lee proves to be incapable to characterize Korea’s first Queen, known for her outstanding wisdom which eventually provided foundation for the unification of the three Kingdoms on the Korean Peninsula in the 7th Century.

As great of the explain was based upon the power matches between the two main characters Mishil and Duk Man, Lee Yo-Won’s unconvincing performance as Duk Man was a stark incompatibility to Koh Hyun-Jung’s luminous portrayal of the charismatic, distinguished Mishil. While in the legend Duk Man wins in the slay, Lee’s Duk Man is decidedly not a noble opponent of Koh’s Mishil. Pretending to beget Lee’s Duk Man as someone she isn’t through this LONG series is exhausting, taking away quite a bit of the excitement and pleasures from the stories and other actors’ tremendous acting…

The explain enjoys vast popularity in Korea. Despite the dull Lee Yo-Won, the prove is otherwise pleasant, and has plenty to offer. I wouldn’t miss the improbable Koh Hyun-Jung for the world. So for those who wouldn’t mind a Awful lead actress, go for it.

This is a huge series, it has everything. The characters are estimable and the memoir has a lot of twists to sustain you on the edge of your seat. Misil is so unpleasant she is kindly. The woman who plays her Go Hyun Jung is so incredible, she plays the villainess to perfection. Really worth watching and piquant. Looking forward to watching the next Volume.

And thanks to Amazon, the first dvds were sinister and once reported they were replaced in days.

While I’m a truly devoted Futurama fan, I’m not one of those condescending supergeeks who claim to fancy Futurama so powerful that I have the authority to utter everyone else how virulently they’re supposed to disapprove anything even slightly different than my popular old-fashioned episodes. (That’s proper, you heard me.) I’m tickled that Futurama has returned from the uninteresting, and I totally loved “Bender’s Grand Pick Up.” But this fresh Futurama flick disappoints. Most of what we know and treasure about Futurama is collected here in spades, but this flick suffers from a poorly-developed area and a degeneration of the show’s formerly deep and subversive humor.

The 88-minute format is either too long for a compact and focused plotline, or too short for the type of complex account the producers appear to be striving for. The fable here jumps around at a very awkward scurry and shows signs of severe over-editing. The jokes have been reduced to Family Guy-like asides played for cheap guffaws rather than deep thoughts. (The caped superhero is an downhearted example, and Bender’s firstborn son is a very wretched example.)

Many holes and inconsistencies in the storyline reveal that position construction took a backseat to the more easily written look gags and cheap asides. (Here’s an example that hopefully won’t be condemned as a spoiler. Leisurely in the film the modern Yivo character says he [sklee] sent an image of himself to artists in our universe, but most of the anecdote is built on the opinion that Yivo idea he was alone in all universes.) The fundamental sage has also trumped the longstanding strengths of the explain. The personalities of Fry and Leela (and principal supporting characters like Kif) are inconsistent, Bender has been demoted to an unworkable subplot, and Zoidberg does diminutive more than vomit for simpleminded laughs. There are also many missed opportunities for building upon the cliffhangers left from “Bender’s Mammoth Secure.”

You can rest assured that the substantial Futurama animation, music, and convey acting (the actors have always been the show’s unsung heroes) won’t disappoint this time around. But the writing will. Positive fans may or may not like the basic anecdote, but the bigger point is that everyone will spy the careless and unprofessional defects in the legend. Hopefully this flick will objective be a temporary misstep. Console yourself by remembering once again how lucky we are to have Futurama benefit among the living. [~doomsdayer520~]

I bought this on the day of release, so of course I’m a titanic Futurama fan and expected to like it. I understanding Bender’s Sizable Salvage was a decent grief showing some rust, so to stammer, and that the modern releases would regain better from there. This one is a letdown, though. No doubt, there are some profitable jokes, and I laughed here and there during the 90 minutes. But the writing really doesn’t feel like Futurama. The grossout and mildly sick humor is amped up (it was always there but balanced with the show’s sophisticated writing), and in particular, some of the humor that plays on the film’s “rape” set has a slightly repugnant edge. There’s also a lengthy subplot with Calculon that really drags down the film while offering almost no laughs.

The special features are attractive passe too. The deleted scenes reel is very short, the “blooper” fragment is objective 2 minutes of the teach actors mugging for the video cameras (though this guy is elated to behold at Tress McNeill and Katey Segal), and the full-length “episode” created for a video game impartial doesn’t have the laughs.

Bottom line: I eagerly awaited this and bought it day of release; I won’t be in such a run for the next one (which doesn’t peer so hot, based on the preview included with this one) .
